The Rona

I’m not a religious man, but my then-fiancée and I were both close to praying that our wedding would go off without turning into an ill-advised, badly-timed super-spreader event. As it turned out, luck and timing was with us. Not a single case we know of came from the occasion, and all we are left with is wonderful memories of that day.

Now, much later, everyone in our household is recovering from COVID-19! I guess I feel a little silly to have been so surprised at finally coming down with it after all this time. Omicron is far more infectious than prior strains; thank goodness it also appears to be less virulent than some.

Barring any insidious long-term effects, we’re a-ok now, knock on wood (I’m not a superstitious man, either!). We hope you and yours are, too. A-ok, I mean.

Have a safe and very happy St. Patrick’s Day! Maybe do some corned beef & cabbage. Cook it low & slow, like in a Guinness reduction. Get some carrots in there, potatoes, you know. Maybe some Powers or Black Bush with a Beamish back.
