Where The Hell Are Maxon’s CV Tools Scripts?!
If you use Cinema 4D you probably know what I’m talking about. CV Tools are a batch of venerable-but-useful scripts created and hosted by Maxon Cineversity. CV Tools was oddly difficult for me to find for some time, with many broken tutorial links pointing nowhere and the official download link now semi-hidden in a legacy flipdown at the bottom of a menu. With my latest CV Tools hunt-&-download (following a full OS reinstall), I decided to make sure these scripts are never again hard for me - and hopefully for you - to find. So, where the hell are they?
Shortest answer: HERE
(CVToolbox_20240621.zip should automatically download via direct link to Maxon’s site)
Longer answer, go to Maxon’s Downloads page.
Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and open the Cineversity Legacy Downloads flip-down. Click on the CV TOOLBOX button you just exposed, and your browser will automatically download CVToolbox_20240621.zip, an archive containing (I believe) all of the scripts Cineversity has released.
In case there’s ever another shakeup where Cineversity’s links stop working, I’ve also taken the liberty of hosting a safety copy of the zip file HERE.
Disclaimer:
Because the CVToolbox zip file is not behind a login (I tested this, and my wife was able to download it without an account), I am presuming no one at Maxon will mind if I am hosting the zip here as well for redundant access and increased findability. I’m not trying to be a wiseguy here: If I get word Maxon does mind or if they issue a takedown request, I will comply immediately. It’s just that I did without these great scripts for an unpleasant stretch of time due to having a devil of a time finding them, and I don’t want anyone else to go through the same frustration if I can help it.
Once again, kind folks at Maxon: immediately! That’s how fast I will comply if this is an issue.
I wrote this post because when Cineversity moved over to their new website, I experienced a lot of technical issues. At first I wasn’t able to access the new site at all for months, which was frustrating but I suppose fine when I still had access to the old site. Now that the old site has been gone for some time, I finally do appear to have normal access to their new one. What’s more, when you google “Maxon CV Tools download” Maxon’s downloads page does indeed show up first in the results and does house the CV Tools download link (an improvement to how it was for quite some time). But it’s still tucked away in that legacy flipdown, the internet is still full of broken tutorial links, and I don’t want to lose track of the tools again.
